IFA Quiz competition emerges in North-Dayi

The blueprints of IFA  Quiz Competition (IQC) emerged from North-Dayi on 30th November 2018, with two Junior High Schools taking part in it. It is the first time ever a quiz competition is organised in Ghana in which the area of study or the whole quiz session is based solely on Girls Iron-folate Tablet supplementation (GIFTS)As an innovative way to get the students and community members actively involved in the GIFTS programme, the Nutrition/Diet Therapy Unit (North-Dayi) with health facilities involvement as well as collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (North-Dayi) took this bold initiative to organize the IQC.

quiz is a form of game or mind sport, in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly. The IQC was specially designed to test students' knowledge of GIFTS (IFA).
Present at the event are officials from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Ghana Education Service (GES). The event participation was between two Junior High Schools in a circuit namely Tsrukpe-Tota JHS (IFA Baseline School) and Tsrukpe-Dukuma JHS respectively. It was a marvellous performance from the participating schools and an event you would not like to miss. Framed certificates of participation were presented to the schools. The event would be organised throughout the district based on circuit levels and the winners from circuit levels will soon come to the Grand Finale at the district level. Some circuits are yet to hold theirs and you are warmly welcome if you want to be present.
During an interview with some officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES), some stated that it is a very good initiative that will help bring competition among schools in the district. Others also said it is going to help students understand and accept the GIFTS programme and they look forward to the scaling-up of the IQC to other districts so that they can have IFA inter-district quiz competition. Even though this session was a success, finance was a very big challenge to the organisers. It was through individual efforts that made it a memorable event. Finance has been an obstacle and could not prevent the organisers from doing their job, but as they are about to scale it up to other circuits or sub-districts, the finance challenge is also bloating.

Even though it was a great achievement for the district, we still need financial support from individuals, NGOs, District Assembly and any other entity to help achieve more goals and develop our young ones to their full capabilities to meet international standards.
Let us all come on-board to help develop these young ones. You can donate the little you have to support us clicking the link below
